Job summary

Prince’s Mead seeks an inspirational PE and Games Specialist with QTS or equivalent to join the Sports Department. You will deliver high-quality PE lessons and lead engaging games, guiding children from Nursery to Year 6 in a stimulating, supportive environment.

You will foster confidence, teamwork and a lifelong love of physical activity, contributing to fixtures and promoting sportsmanship across multiple sports including Rugby, Football and Cricket.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent required.
• Experience of working with children from Nursery through to Year 6.
• Strong understanding of physical education and child development.
• Passion for school sport and the wider benefits of physical activity.
• Interest and experience in Rugby, Football and Cricket welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Play a central role in the delivery of the PE curriculum and games programme.
• Plan and teach progressive lessons that meet the needs of pupils across the age range.
• Contribute to the competitive fixtures programme, including the organisation and management of teams and preparation for fixtures.
• Support pupils to develop their skills and sportsmanship.

About the school

Founded in 1949 in Winchester, Prince’s Mead is a co-educational day preparatory school for children aged 2 to 11. The school stands out from other independent schools in the area and is well placed to prepare children for a wide variety of secondary schools, particularly the strong 11+ day schools in Hampshire and beyond. Senior school destinations are never prescriptive, and the school works closely with parents to prepare children for the full range of possible choices. The role

We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, dynamic and forward-thinking PE and Games Specialist, with QTS or equivalent, to join our dedicated Sports Department. This follows the promotion of the current Head of Girls’ Games to Director of Sport.

The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic and highly skilled practitioner with experience of working with children from Nursery through to Year 6. They will deliver high-quality PE lessons and lead engaging, purposeful games lessons, combining a strong understanding of physical education and child development with a passion for school sport. The role will help pupils develop confidence, teamwork, resilience and a lifelong love of physical activity.
