Job summary

Qualifications

• PhD in marine/environmental science or computing is essential.
• Experience with a web framework; role uses Django.
• Familiarity with Python and Bash programming languages.
• Linux systems administration: deploying and managing an application and data pipelines.
• Hands-on ML/AI experience training or fine-tuning image classification models (PyTorch).
• Knowledge of phytoplankton ecology and marine instrumentation.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop SAMS AI-based classifier and existing software for data collection, transfer and storage, and the web-based dashboard.
• Contribute to data analysis and write reports and scientific publications.
• Support AFBI in commissioning and operating their IFCB, with potential site visits and occasional seagoing.
