Job summary

Durham University’s Department of Earth Sciences invites applications for a fixed-term Postdoctoral Research Associate in experimental earthquake mechanics. The project will combine laboratory experiments, observations and numerical modelling in collaboration with Oxford University and international partners.

The successful candidate will design and conduct experiments, analyse data, and collaborate with the Oxford team to compare laboratory results with seismological observations and modelling,

Qualifications

  • PhD in experimental rock mechanics or closely related field.
  • First degree in Geology / Earth Sciences or equivalent required.
  • Experience with laboratory experiments and data analysis is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Design, conduct and analyze laboratory experiments addressing project objectives.
  • Process, interpret and manage research data; integrate results with observations and models.
  • Plan and manage research activities; work independently and with collaborators.
  • Develop and disseminate high-quality outputs: publications and presentations.
  • Collaborate with investigators and international partners on research protocols.
