Local Government Reorganisation

Surrey County Council is preparing for Local Government Reorganisation, which aims to implement the Government-led policy of devolution, giving more powers to local areas.

Currently, Surrey has a two-tier system with 11 district and borough councils and a county council. All councils will be reorganised into a smaller number of new unitary councils, effective from April 2027. At that point, this role will transfer, with all existing terms and conditions, to one of the new councils.

Join our dynamic team to shape the future of local government. Make a lasting impact with innovative solutions and improved community services. Help us build a brighter future for our community!

Our Commitment

Surrey County Council is proud to be a Confident Employer. A guaranteed interview will be offered to all disabled applicants who:

  • Meet the minimum criteria for the role as evidenced in their application
  • Choose to share their disability status on the application form

Our application and onboarding processes will accommodate reasonable adjustments for interviews and roles. We are committed to being an inclusive and diverse employer that reflects the community we serve, and we particularly welcome applications from underrepresented groups.
