Job summary

Prospero Teaching is seeking a compassionate PDA-trained Tutor/Mentor to provide personalised educational and emotional support to children and young people across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

You will deliver tailored 1:1 tuition for Children Looked After (CLA) using flexible, low-demand approaches to encourage engagement, confidence and independence, while collaborating with residential staff, families and schools and completing weekly progress reports with safeguarding standards.

Qualifications

• At least one year's experience in an educational setting.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Enhanced DBS with Children’s Barred List or Update Service.
• Two professional references relating to child-focused work.

Responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition based on individual needs, interests and abilities.
• Use PDA-informed strategies to support engagement and reduce anxiety around demands.
• Build trusting relationships through patience, empathy and consistency.
• Support communication, emotional regulation, life skills and independence.
• Adapt learning activities to suit changing needs and engagement levels.
• Work collaboratively with residential staff, families, schools and other professionals.
• Complete weekly progress reports and maintain safeguarding standards.
