South Uttlesford Primary Care Network has an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and forward-thinking emergency care practitioner (ECP) / paramedic, to provide dedicated support to our 4 general practices and our local population. The role is offered on a part-time basis for 18 hours per week, over 2 days, for a 2-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of further extension.

You will operate across a neighbourhood of practices, providing specialist paramedic resources and supporting the delivery of PCN service objectives within a surgery setting.

Main Responsibilities include:

• Work as an autonomous, accountable paramedic, providing a holistic approach, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services.
• Collaborate closely with a wider multi-disciplinary PCN workforce, including pharmacists and social prescribers.
• Use advanced clinical skills to educate patients, promote self-care, and empower them to make informed treatment decisions.
• Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions related to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.

About the Candidate

If you are an experienced emergency care practitioner (ECP)/paramedic seeking a new challenge, we would love to hear from you. Previous primary care experience is not essential; applications from those working in other settings are welcome. Essential criteria include:

• Being a registered paramedic with current HCPC registration and post-registration experience, ideally including primary care.
• Advanced clinical assessment, reasoning, and decision-making skills.
• Post-registration experience in at least two of the following areas: GP/Minor illness, walk-in centre, A&E, GP out of hours, or ambulance service.
• Ability to effectively assess, plan, treat, and refer patients.
• Confidence in evaluating patient care.
• Experience working with protocols and guidelines.
• Excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills.
• Ability to make clear decisions and communicate them effectively.
• Understanding of working within the parameters of one's training and capabilities, according to HCPC standards.
• Experience of autonomous practice and multi-professional team working.

Desirable skills include experience in primary care, working towards advanced clinical practitioner status, and mentorship or supervisory skills training.
