PCN Manager – Harbourside Family Practice

Job summary

Gordano Valley PCN are looking to recruit a Primary Care Network Manager. This role is part time for 25 hours a week.

The PCN Manager will form an integral part of the current PCN leadership team working alongside the Clinical Directors, PCN Board members and ARRS employees.

It will suit a candidate with previous healthcare experience and demands excellent leadership, organisational and communication skills. You will be based within one practice within the PCN, but will be expected to work flexibly across all PCN sites or from home as required.

Main duties of the job

The PCN Manager will support the PCN Clinical Directors to ensure the smooth running of the Network including compliance with the Network DES Contract. They will identify and actively manage all PCN performance measures.

They will oversee the financial management of the PCN, including budgets, cash flow forecasting and resource allocation.

They will support the collaboration between the network practices and liaise with external stakeholders.

About us

Gordano Valley PCN are a well established PCN in Woodspring, North Somerset, serving a combined patient list size of approx. 52,000 across 4 local GP practices.

The PCN became a Limited Company in 2024 to give greater structure to the PCN and open up more opportunities.

  1. Excellent standard of general education (English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent level), degree qualification, or able to demonstrate the equivalent level through experience.
  2. Management or Business qualifications.

Experience

  1. Experience of supporting members of a senior management team.
  2. Experience of working at a senior level in a project and/or transformation and/or business management area.
  3. Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel and Word.
  4. Experience of working in partnership with external organisations for a successful outcome.
  5. Understanding of primary care services and community health services.
  6. Experience in arranging meetings, diary management, writing agendas and minutes.
  7. Financial management including budget reporting and bookkeeping.
  8. Experience of working in General Practice and/or a healthcare environment.
Responsible For
  1. Liaise with the Clinical Directors, board members and other PCN leads about any operational issues that may need to be addressed.
  2. Identify and manage all PCN performance measures including the Network DES, Investment and Impact Fund (IIF), COVID campaigns.
  3. Ensure the Network Agreement is reviewed and updated regularly.
  4. Support the PCN with recruitment, coordination, implementation and embedding of PCN ARRS roles across the practices.
  5. Implement the PCN strategic plan and delivery of projects including regular updates to the Clinical Directors and board members with timelines, risks and issues.
  6. Update the PCN action log and prompt members of outstanding actions.
  7. Set agendas for the PCN board meetings and minute these.
  8. Support and engage with practices to deliver to deadlines where combined practice responses are required whilst maintaining positive relationships between the 4 practices.
  9. Organise PCN events such as educational events.
  10. Maintain effective communication and engagement with patients, carers, service users, colleagues and staff.
  11. Liaise and engage with the PCN Patient Participation Group (PPG).
  12. Actively encourage a culture of collaboration through sharing information and intelligence across all practices.
  13. Develop and update promotional literature including any social media platforms to promote Gordano Valley PCN.

The job description provides an outline of the responsibilities and tasks associated with the role. The post holder may be required to undertake additional duties as reasonably requested by the Clinical Directors, particularly as the needs of the PCN evolve.
