Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in PCB CAD design using Altium Suite.
• Deep knowledge of IPC standards: IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610.

• Preparation of manufacturing data and supporting design engineers.

PCB CAD Designer - SC Cleared - GBP440 a Day - Outside IR35

Rate: GBP440 a day Outside IR35

Duration: Initially 6 months

Location: Southampton

Clearance: SC Clearance required for this role

You will join a world leading defence technology consultancy and be responsible for PCB CAD design, including:

• PCB layout, component placement, routing for RF and high-speed digital boards using Altium, in accordance with internal PCB CAD design guidelines

Your skills:

More than 5 years of experience in PCB CAD design using Altium Suite, including:

• Electronic schematic capture
• Component library development (definition, design, footprint)
• Mixed technology (e.g., SMT, PTH)
• Routing
• Design for manufacturing
• Design for testability
• RF and high-speed digital boards (e.g., mmWave boards)
• Multi-layer PCBs
• Design of through holes and blind vias
• Supporting design engineers in selecting specific PCB materials (substrates, copper)
• Designing and verifying high-speed traces (impedance, capacitance, spacing)
• Designing and verifying power traces (current limits, capacity, spacing)
• Ensuring balanced copper distribution to prevent bow and twist
• Component placement
• Layup definition
• Preparation of manufacturing data
• Deep knowledge of IPC standards: IPC-A-600, IPC-6012, IPC-A-610 (up to class 3), IPC-2221
