Job summary

Ceredigion County Council Direct Payment Support Service is seeking an experienced, resilient professional to provide high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with complex needs and high-risk behaviours.

You will implement Positive Behaviour Support plans, use PMVA de-escalation techniques, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with healthcare professionals and families to promote safety, dignity and independence.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working with individuals with high risk challenging behaviours.
• Knowledge and practical experience of Positive Behaviour Support (PBS).
• Valid PMVA training.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond effectively in crisis situations.
• Understanding of safeguarding and duty of care.

Responsibilities

• Support service users with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, and community access.
• Work with individuals who present high risk and challenging behaviours, ensuring safety for both the service user and others.
• Implement and follow Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans tailored to individual needs.
• Use Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression (PMVA) techniques appropriately to de-escalate situations.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of incidents, behaviours, and support provided.
• Build professional, trusting relationships with service users while maintaining clear boundaries.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including healthcare professionals and families.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and report any concerns immediately.
• Promote independence, choice, and inclusion for all service users.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety policies and risk assessments.
• Proven experience working with individuals with high risk challenging behaviours.
