We have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll Technician to join our People Services Team at Royal London Alderley Park.

People Services is a central team supporting all our people throughout the entire employee lifecycle, with correspondence, benefits, pay and guidance.

You will join a small team of specialists who primarily ensure payments are made accurately and on time to all employees and oversee the effective control and application of the occupational and statutory leave schemes.

This position is ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for working with numbers, and a drive to continuously develop their skills.

About the role:

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll input, guaranteeing employees receive correct pay.
  • Assist with verifying all payroll input and changes made by the team.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the reasons behind each task and recognise the impact of your actions.
  • Check authorisations to ensure they comply with company directives.
  • Respond promptly and thoroughly to employee queries raised via tickets or telephone, adhering to service level agreements and providing comprehensive information on all aspects of pay and deductions.
  • Administer all leave schemes according to Royal London’s policies and statutory requirements.
  • Follow established processes, suggest improvements, and discuss potential changes with the team.
  • Assist the Payroll Manager with ad hoc tasks as required.
  • Provide cover for Senior Payroll Technicians and undertake their responsibilities during periods of absence.

About you:

  • Experience in a payroll administration role and a good understanding of payroll legislation
  • Good level of PC literacy, particularly with computerised payroll systems
