Job summary

Lambeth Council in London is seeking a Payroll Team Leader to oversee a team of 12 and manage payroll for around 3,000 school staff, 3,200 corporate staff, and 200 external school staff using the Oracle payroll system.

You will ensure accurate, on-time payments, compliant with PAYE, National Insurance and pension schemes, lead continuous improvement, and collaborate with HR, Finance and external partners including payroll bureau services for schools and external clients.

Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive, accurate and customer-focused payroll service.
• Lead and develop a high-performing payroll team, fostering a positive, inclusive culture and embedding continuous improvement across payroll operations.
• Support payroll digital transformation and develop the payroll function as a data-led service, including delivering payroll bureau services to schools and external clients.
