I'm currently recruiting on behalf of a well-known business who are looking for an experienced Payroll Team Leader to join them on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You'll be leading a small team and taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of payrolls for around 11,000 colleagues. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong payroll experience who wants to step into a leadership role within a busy, high-volume environment.

Description
  • Managing the monthly payroll process end-to-end - accurate, reconciled, and always on time
  • Overseeing starters, leavers, timesheets, absences, and employee record updates
  • Handling statutory and non-statutory deductions (PAYE, NI, pensions, SAYE, Salary Finance, benefits)
  • Acting as the go-to person for payroll queries and escalations
  • Supporting and coaching your team, while working with HR/Finance to improve processes
  • Ensuring compliance with HMRC, pensions auto-enrolment, and statutory reporting requirements
Profile
  • CIPP qualified (or working towards) or equivalent payroll experience
  • Background in managing or supervising payroll teams
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, NI, SSP, SMP, salary sacrifice, benefits in kind)
  • Experience with large, complex payrolls
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, Pivot Tables) and experience with integrated HR/Payroll/Finance systems
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative, problem-solving approach
