Job summary

Leicester-based FMCG company is recruiting a permanent Payroll Team Leader to manage and develop a payroll function supporting weekly and monthly payrolls. You will lead a small team, ensure accurate processing, and maintain compliance with PAYE, NIC, HMRC submissions and statutory payments.

With strong leadership and payroll systems knowledge, you will drive process improvements, balance payroll control accounts, and provide timely reports to Finance.

• Experience in payroll processing and leading a team in a professional setting.
• Strong knowledge of payroll software and current legislation.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail.
• Ability to mentor and develop staff.
• Clear communication with team members and stakeholders.
• Proactive mindset for process improvement.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, process and manage weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
• Ensure compliance with PAYE, NIC, HMRC submissions and statutory payments.
• Audit data quality and ensure payroll documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Calculate and process holiday, sick and statutory payments and pension deductions.
• Reconcile and balance payroll control accounts weekly/monthly.
• Provide accurate payroll figures and reports to Finance teams.
• Support Payroll Administrators, setting priorities and modelling high standards of service.
• Work alongside the other Payroll Team Leader to deputise for the Group Payroll Manager.
• Contribute to continuous improvement, standardisation and best practice across the centralised payroll function.
