Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join a fast-paced, high-volume payroll team in Reading. You will deliver accurate payroll services for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and providing expert guidance to clients and stakeholders.

You will manage multiple pay frequencies, support payroll audits, and contribute to process improvements. A strong foundation in payroll software and Excel, plus CIPP qualifications, will help you

Qualifications

• Experience in a busy payroll role, ideally in a bureau or accountancy firm.
• Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, tax, NI, pensions (Auto-Enrolment), and statutory payments (SSP, SMP, SPP).
• Meticulous approach to payroll processing with accuracy and compliance.
• Ability to build relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Proactive and analytical mindset to troubleshoot payroll issues.
• Proficiency in payroll software and Excel; cloud payroll experience is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Process end-to-end payroll for a wide range of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK legislation.
• Manage high-volume payrolls, including multiple pay frequencies, deductions, and statutory calculations.
• Liaise with clients to provide payroll advice, resolve queries, and support their payroll operations.
• Stay updated with changes in payroll legislation and ensure compliance across all activities.
• Assist in payroll audits, reconciliations, and reporting for financial accuracy.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency and accuracy.
• Support junior payroll team members and share expertise to drive team development.
