Job Description:

This role is responsible for specialist payroll support in the delivery of UK and Crown Dependency payrolls. The role manages critical payroll activities to ensure accurate and timely delivery, including running gross to net calculations, supporting change projects, and administering legislative documentation like P60 and P11D. It also involves managing escalations for the tier 2 payroll team, providing guidance and support to resolve issues.

To be successful, candidates should have:

  • Extensive experience in payroll administration and support at an expert level.
  • Decision-making skills that account for policy, legislation, and operational performance.
  • Proven success in driving process and procedural change initiatives from conception to implementation.

The role may also assess skills such as risk management, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, and digital/technological expertise.

Purpose of the role

Manage payroll functions, including calculating employee pay, withholding taxes, maintaining accurate records, and resolving complex pay queries.

Accountabilities
  • Processing payroll for various employee types, calculating taxes and contributions, and ensuring proper payments.
  • Maintaining payroll records and troubleshooting issues.
  • Providing guidance to employees on payroll-related matters.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory filings and liaising with tax authorities.
  • Performing timely activities to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Leading or developing technical expertise within the team.
  • Guiding and supporting team members, managing work allocation, and fostering professional development.
  • Demonstrating leadership behaviors such as listening, inspiring, aligning, and developing others.
  • Developing technical expertise and acting as an advisor where appropriate.
