Payroll Specialist

Payroll Specialist, permanent, full-time based in Hull, reporting to the Group Payroll Manager to deliver an outsourced payroll for the entire Group. The role involves working with various businesses to ensure efficient and accurate payroll processing across weekly, 4-weekly, and monthly pay cycles. This position is ideal for someone with payroll experience, preferably with iTrent, seeking to expand their knowledge and gain broader experience.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Liaising with businesses to ensure timely payroll submissions in accordance with established processes.
2. Managing data transfer from the businesses to PeopleFirst and iTrent, reviewing scheduler outputs to verify data accuracy.
3. Collaborating with the People team to maintain an engaged relationship with the outsourced payroll model and continuously improve processes for greater efficiency.
4. Performing manual calculations as required.

Skills and Experience:

• Recent payroll experience including tax, NI, statutory leave and payments, attachment of earnings, NMW compliance, with the ability to perform manual calculations.
• Proficiency in Excel, including VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, and macros, and experience with Business Objects reports.
• Strong attention to detail and numeracy skills.
• Knowledge of HMRC legislation, payroll procedures, and pension issues.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with a wide range of people via phone, in person, and email, demonstrating strong customer service.
