The Role

As a Payroll and Bookkeeping Specialist, you will be a vital part of the finance team, responsible for managing payroll processes and bookkeeping tasks for a diverse portfolio of clients. You will work closely with colleagues and clients to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of payroll and accounting services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process monthly payroll for clients accurately and on time
  • Prepare and submit RTI returns and manage payroll-related compliance
  • Maintain client bookkeeping records, including reconciliations and ledger management
  • Prepare VAT returns and assist with quarterly VAT submissions
  • Liaise with clients to resolve payroll and bookkeeping queries promptly
  • Support management accounts preparation where required
  • Work collaboratively within the team to meet deadlines and deliver excellent client service
  • Keep up to date with relevant payroll legislation and accounting standards
What We’re Looking For
  • Proven payroll and bookkeeping experience, ideally within an accountancy practice or similar environment
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g. IRIS, Sage Payroll) and bookkeeping software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, Sage)
  • Excellent understanding of payroll legislation, RTI submissions, and VAT procedures
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
