Job Overview:

The RWJBarnabas Corporate Payroll supports an employee base of more than 40,000 employees. The Payroll Processor is responsible for performing various and more complex duties of US Payroll including, but not limited to: Auditing Bi-Weekly Payrolls, process payroll adjustments and data entry request. The Payroll Processor handles incoming Payroll Inquiries using Service Now Ticketing Systems.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years Payroll experience
  • Experience working with large complex clients, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Excellent customer service skills with a dedication to effective and timely resolution of outstanding issues.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with all levels of management

Preferred:

  • Associate s degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Payroll
  • Previous experience with tax and vendor updates within a large payroll system
  • Payroll, Finance, Accounting, and/or HR experience
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local tax practices

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Fundamental Payroll or Certified Payroll Professional certification; or, as a condition of employment, obtain certification within 1 year of starting

Essential Functions:

  • Understand end to end payroll processing steps and downstream impact of transaction processing.
  • Work with HR representative and other site leaders to resolve inquires
  • Monitor eTime Time and Attendance for timecard errors, mis-swipes, and approvals
  • Provide assistance to timekeepers/managers and escalate issues to Payroll Lead, as needed.
  • Process loads to Peoplesoft for time and attendance, tuition, expense reimbursements, deductions, and others as needed.
  • Reconcile the loads to payroll reports for accuracy per the Payroll Processing Checklist.
  • Participate in project testing activities
  • Ability to research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, including but not limited to employee information, payroll, payroll taxes and reporting
  • Ability to solve more complex tax and payroll issues in an unsupervised environment.
  • Ability to evaluate overall situation to prioritize work.
