Job description

Payroll Officer (Multiple Positions), London

About the role

Townsville Catholic Education Office is currently seeking two experienced and dedicated Payroll Officers. These roles are full-time, permanent (38 hours per week - 1 FTE) and part-time, permanent (19 hours per week - 0.5 FTE), commencing as soon as practicable.

The Payroll Officer will work closely with the Payroll Coordinator to focus on payroll improvement initiatives, including the implementation of supporting process documentation, instructions, and communication as required. The role will further support the efficient and effective fortnightly payroll processes for all TCE staff.

About you

  • Demonstrated experience in payroll tasks within a large multi-disciplinary organization adhering to multiple industrial instruments
  • Ability to apply provisions of awards, legislation, policies, and procedures
  • Experience in identifying and implementing solutions to payroll problems
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles
  • Knowledge of Industrial Awards, Government Legislation, and the ability to interpret and provide payroll advice related to industrial matters
  • Advanced computer skills, including experience with spreadsheets, ad hoc reports, and data analysis
  • Analytical and methodical approach to all aspects of the role
  • Ability to develop rapport and influence stakeholders in schools and across the office

Mandatory criteria

  • Current Working with Children Suitability Card; a paid Blue Card is required before commencement as per Queensland Government's No Card, No Start policy
  • Certificate IV qualification or higher, or equivalent relevant experience, education, or training
  • Current Driver’s Licence
  • Willingness to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville as needed
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the role safely
  • Experience with Aurion payroll system is highly regarded
