Job description

We are looking for a Payroll Officer to cover maternity leave on a temporary basis for up to 12-months. You will be based at our Castleblayney site in Ireland working 39-hours per week.

As the Payroll Officer you will be provide effective payroll support delivering a high level of service and operational advice consistent with Company and legal requirements.

Responsibilities of our Payroll Officer - Maternity Cover

  • Provide an effective and dedicated payroll administrative service to KIL across Ireland and the UK.
  • Provide an advisory service to employees ensuring that they are fully aware of ROI rights and entitlements
  • Run allocated payrolls, creating journals and liaising with Accounts as necessary to effect payment to employees. To include month end duties and all associated paperwork to Ireland Revenue & HMRC standards and regulations seeking assistance from the Senior Payroll Officer as necessary.
  • Check wage sheets and compile data. Calculate shop floor holiday payments.
  • Apply salary adjustments, increases and deductions, overtime payments, calculate pension payments and holiday pay etc. in a timely manner, ensuring appropriate authorities are obtained to maintain an audit trail.
  • Process leavers liaising with Managers and IT Service Delivery as necessary.
  • Carry out administrative tasks such as updating the Time & Attendance system for allocated business units/sites.
  • Oversee the Time & Attendance system (TMS) ensuring it is keep up-to-date, calculating and updating holidays, providing support and guidance to colleagues as required.
  • Contribute and support the continuous improvement of payroll systems, practices and policies in the organisation, ensuring they underpin our Company culture and values.
  • Support the wider HR Team in achieving business objectives and assist and lead where appropriate on projects and activities.
  • Keep up to date with developments in legislation and best practice, knowledge sharing with the team to ensure continuous improvement in the service offered.
  • Provide cover for the Senior Payroll Officer as required.
What we are looking for in our Payroll Officer - Maternity Cover:

You will have:
  • Experience of running payroll using Midland HR or similar system
  • I Pass qualification or equivalent
  • Good standard of education
  • Knowledge, understanding and practical application of Employment Law and Payroll legislation
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
  • Confident at delivering feedback and communication with all levels of the company
  • Experience of producing written reports and statistical information
  • Experience of working effectively in teams
  • Excellent administrative skills and good attention to detail
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications
  • Advanced level MS Excel skills
Whilst not essential, the following would be of benefit:
  • Has previously worked for a manufacturing company
  • Knowledge of Time & Attendance software (TMS)
