Job description

Location: Borough Green, Kent

Full-Time | Permanent | Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00

We’re looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Officer to join our Finance team at H+H UK Ltd. In this vital role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of employee payroll, supporting both administrative and technical aspects of payroll operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute payroll processes with precision and efficiency
  • Record and calculate payroll transactions, including deductions, special payments, and taxes
  • Prepare and post payroll journals and finance-related information
  • Issue employee payments via bank transfer
  • Calculate salary changes, overtime, and holiday pay
  • Administer employee benefits (e.g. company cars, pensions, private healthcare)
  • Maintain and develop payroll systems and ensure data integrity
  • Liaise with HMRC on technical payroll queries and compliance matters
  • Oversee pension schemes, including auto-enrolment processes
  • Perform payroll reconciliations and analysis to ensure accuracy
  • Lead payroll-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Stay current with payroll legislation and ensure full compliance
  • Prepare and submit year-end tax documentation (P11D, P60, etc.) to HMRC
  • Accurately record and process Class 1A National Insurance contributions
  • Produce management information reports as required
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and internal policies
  • Uphold strong internal controls to support financial governance

About You

  • Higher education qualification (e.g. HND, HNC, NVQ, A-level or equivalent)
  • Proven experience in a standalone payroll role
  • In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation and HMRC regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
