A leading educational institution is looking for a Payroll Officer to join their HR Payroll team. The ideal candidate will manage payroll, assist staff, and ensure compliance with regulations while supporting the school’s commitment to vulnerable children. This role offers competitive pay and a supportive work environment.
Payroll Officer
37.5 hours a week, 52 weeks a year
Salary range: £25,837 - £28,356 pa (25 days holiday plus statutory public holidays paid per year)
Would you like to make a difference in the lives of our children and young people from behind the scenes? Do you have office administration and payroll experience, along with good communication skills, and are adept at using payroll and information management systems to ensure the accuracy of monthly salary payments? Do you have empathy and patience with staff who will rely on your guidance?
If so, we have a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and approachable person to join our school's HR Payroll team. Ideally, applicants will have previous payroll experience, preferably with pensions, and a desire to work in an environment supporting our valued staff working with vulnerable children and young people. Our medium-term goal is to bring payroll back in-house, so a willingness to upskill with supported training is required.
Reporting to the Director of HR and Director of Finance, you will oversee payroll administration, liaise directly with staff, monitor monthly payroll, report, and provide updates to the senior leadership team. You will work with your colleague to ensure all paperwork and records are maintained and data is submitted promptly.
Our students are aged 5-19 with moderate to severe and complex social communication and learning disabilities. All staff contribute positively to our students' lives. Compassion, patience, and empathy are vital, and you will be required to complete Team Teach positive behaviour support training as part of your induction.
Office-based hours during term time are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, with a ½ hour unpaid break. Some flexibility during school holidays is possible.
Own transport is desirable due to the rural location, though accessible by bus from nearby villages and towns.
