Payroll Assistant
We are looking for an experienced and detail–oriented Payroll Specialist to support payroll operations during a busy period. This temporary role involves managing the full payroll cycle for a large and varied workforce, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. Initially for 3 months, it could potentially go on longer.
Immediate Start – office Based role – Free Car Parking and near station.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll for a high volume of employees, ensuring compliance with current legislation and internal policies.
- Collaborate with HR to input and verify payroll data.
- Reconcile payroll outputs and resolve any discrepancies.
- Prepare and submit statutory returns and reports to relevant authorities.
- Administer statutory leave such as sickness, maternity, paternity, and adoption.
- Respond to payroll–related queries from staff and external contacts.
- Generate payslips and end–of–year documentation.
- Support internal and external audits with payroll data and reports.
- Ensure compliance with auto–enrolment and pension regulations.
- Provide payroll–related insights and reports to management.
Essential
- Minimum 2 years' experience in payroll processing.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and payroll/HR systems.
- Solid understanding of UK payroll legislation, statutory payments, and auto–enrolment.
- Ability to manually calculate payroll and reconcile accounts.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines under pressure.
- UK Citizen, or working rights to work in the UK.
Desirable
- Payroll–related qualification (e.g. CIPP or equivalent) or working towards one.
- Experience working in large or complex organisations.
- Familiarity with pension administration and reporting.
