Job summary

Reed in Birmingham seeks a Payroll Migration Specialist to join on a fixed-term, full-time basis. You will lead the migration of multiple monthly payrolls to Sage 50 Payroll, ensuring data cleansing, reconciliation and accurate transfer.

The successful candidate will have at least 3 years of end-to-end payroll experience, strong Excel skills and payroll data migration knowledge, including Auto Enrolment and RTI, and the ability to train colleagues through the change.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of end-to-end payroll experience, ideally in high-volume environments.
• Strong practical experience with Sage 50 Payroll.
• Experience with payroll implementation and/or payroll data migration.
• Good knowledge of UK payroll legislation (Auto Enrolment and RTI).
• Proficient in Excel and data validation.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Payroll Migration Specialist to join the business on a fixed-term contract and play a key role in an important payroll transformation project.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will support the migration of multiple monthly payrolls from an existing payroll platform onto Sage 50 Payroll, ensuring data is accurately cleansed, reconciled and transferred.

This is a hands‑on role that will combine payroll expertise, data migration and stakeholder support. The position is hybrid, with occasional travel to other UK locations where required.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and deliver payroll migrations across multiple business locations
• Cleanse, reconcile and validate payroll data ahead of migration
• Configure new payrolls within Sage 50 Payroll, including pay elements and associated data
• Ensure migrated payroll information is accurate and ready for processingProvide training and support to employees throughout the migration process
• Review existing payroll processes and identify opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency
• Resolve payroll and migration queries while ensuring project deadlines are achieved
• Maintain compliance with relevant UK payroll legislation and best practice

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• At least 3 years' experience working with end-to-end payroll, ideally within a high-volume environment
• Strong practical experience using Sage 50 Payroll
• Previous experience of payroll implementation and/or payroll data migration
• A strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including Auto Enrolment and RTI
• Good knowledge of gross payroll, including overtime, holiday pay, wage records and time & attendance data
• Strong reconciliation and data validation skills
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• The confidence to train and support colleagues through systems and process changes
• A self-motivated and resilient approach, with the ability to manage your own workload and work to project deadlines
