Job description

We are seeking a committed and meticulous Payroll Manager to join a public sector organisation based in Bradford. The successful candidate will ideally have a strong background in Payroll, managing large teams and payrolls, and any system implementation experience would be an advantage.

Description

  1. Oversee the entire payroll function and ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll transactions.
  2. Maintain compliance with internal policies, relevant regulations, and payroll tax laws.
  3. Coordinate with HR to verify staff appointments, terminations, and updates.
  4. Prepare reports for the Finance department and senior management.
  5. Resolve payroll discrepancies and answer employee queries about payroll matters.
  6. Implement payroll best practices to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
  7. Manage the year-end process and liaise with auditors.
  8. Provide training and support to payroll staff.

Profile

A successful Payroll Manager should have:

  1. Experience in a Payroll Manager position.
  2. Experience of both business as usual payroll and also system implementation.
  3. Any experience in a public sector organisation would be advantageous but not essential.
  4. A strong understanding of payroll legislation and best practices.
  5. Proficiency in bespoke payroll software and MS Office Suite.
  6. Excellent numerical skills and attention to detail.
  7. Strong communication skills and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Job Offer

  1. A competitive salary ranging from 40,000 to 45,000 per annum.
  2. 12 month fixed term contract with chance of extension.
  3. Starting ASAP.
  4. 2 days on site and 3 days working from home.
  5. Flexible working hours available.
  6. Central Bradford location with free on site parking.
