Payroll Manager - Diaverum UK

Location: St Albans Head Office (NB ample free parking is available on site and 5 mins to City centre and 10 mins to mainline train station; our staff are based nationally across the UK)
Full-Time; Permanent; hybrid (typically 2 days work from home and 3 days office)
Circa 45k

Are you a detail-oriented payroll professional with a passion for accuracy and compliance? Diaverum UK is seeking a Payroll Manager to lead our payroll operations and ensure the timely and accurate payment of salaries for approximately 800 UK based employees.

About the Role

As Payroll Manager, you will oversee the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring all statutory and contractual obligations are met. You'll play a key role in maintaining compliance, managing audits, and supporting internal stakeholders with payroll-related queries.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities (include but not limited to)

  • Manage monthly payroll processing, including starters, leavers, pay changes and statutory payments.
  • Administer payroll deductions, pensions (Auto-Enrolment & NHS), and ensure compliance with NMW and WTR.
  • Conduct audits and reconciliations of payroll data and systems.
  • Produce payroll reports for Finance, including GL, accruals, and pension contributions.
  • Handle debt recovery processes and liaise with external partners.
  • Lead year-end reporting including P11Ds, Form 42, and Gender Pay Gap submissions.
  • Supervise daily workflows and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Maintain payroll documentation and training guides.
  • Provide cover for Payroll Officer and Head of Payroll when required.
What We're Looking For

Successful candidates must have their CIPP qualification (Diploma in Payroll Management) and previous experience working with i-trent/SAP is desirable. Must have intermediate to advanced Excel skills due to manual calculations needed in the role.
  • Proven experience in payroll management, ideally in a healthcare or large multi-site environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation and pension schemes.
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and manual payroll calculations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and continuous improvement.
