Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Payroll Manager for a newly created standalone role in Bootle, Liverpool. You will take full ownership of the UK payroll for circa 300 employees, driving automation and process improvements while ensuring compliance with RTI, pensions and auto-enrolment.

You will report to the Finance Director and work closely with HR across multiple sites, supporting starters, leavers and pay changes, and act as the main point of contact for payroll queries.

• Improve and automate payroll processes with data uploads and integrations.
• Develop controls, calendars and documented procedures.
• Collaborate with HR on starters, leavers and changes.
• Handle payroll queries across the business.

Payroll Manager

Salary: £45,000
Location: Bootle, Liverpool - Fully Onsite
Structure: Standalone / Sole Payroll Role
Payroll: c.300 employees across multiple sites

The Role

A newly created opportunity for an experienced Payroll Manager to take full ownership of a complex UK payroll while improving and automating the payroll function.

You ll be the business s dedicated payroll expert, reporting directly to the Finance Director and working closely with HR across multiple sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end monthly payroll for c.300 employees.
• Process varied pay including commission, bonuses, overtime, shift premiums, pensions, benefits and statutory payments.
• Manage RTI submissions, PAYE/NIC, P11Ds, P60s and auto-enrolment.
• Complete payroll reconciliations, journals and management reporting.
• Improve and automate payroll processes, moving from manual input towards data uploads and integrations.
• Develop controls, validation checks, payroll calendars and documented procedures.
• Optimise the newly implemented Sage People and Sage People Payroll systems.
• Partner closely with HR on starters, leavers, pay changes and other employee changes.
• Act as the main point of contact for payroll queries across the business.

Ideal Candidate

• Strong end-to-end UK payroll experience, ideally managing payrolls of + employees.
• Experience working in a standalone/sole-charge payroll position.
• Comfortable with complex pay including commission, bonuses and overtime.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI, pensions and auto-enrolment.
• Proven experience improving and automating payroll processes.
• Advanced Excel skills including imports, lookups, templates and data validation.
• Sage People / Sage People Payroll experience is highly desirable.
• Confident working autonomously and communicating with senior stakeholders.
• Multi-site, automotive or dealership payroll experience would be advantageous.
