Job summary

Nacro is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager in the United Kingdom to lead our payroll function, ensuring accurate, on-time and fully compliant payroll processing. About the Role

As Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of the end-to-end payroll service, leading a dedicated payroll team to deliver an accurate, compliant and customer-focused payroll operation. Working closely with colleagues across Finance and People & Organisational Development, alongside our external payroll provider, you'll ensure payroll processes run smoothly while meeting all statutory and regulatory requirements.

You'll oversee payroll systems, pension administration, HMRC reporting, reconciliations and governance, whilst identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and enhance the overall employee experience.

As our Payroll Manager you will lead, develop and support our Payroll, with including, but not limited to:

• Leading the delivery of the monthly payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
• Managing, coaching and developing the Payroll Team to deliver an excellent service.
• Ensuring compliance with UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements, pensions and statutory reporting.
• Managing payroll systems and driving improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy.
• Producing payroll reports, analysis and management information to support business decisions.
• Maintaining robust financial controls, reconciliations and governance across payroll processes.
• Providing expert payroll advice and guidance to managers and employees.

You’ll be someone who has:

• Significant experience managing end-to-end payroll within a medium or large organisation.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, pensions and statutory payments.
• Experience leading and developing a high-performing payroll team.
• Strong payroll systems knowledge and experience of improving payroll processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and confidence working with payroll data and reporting.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

A payroll qualification (such as CIPP) and experience within the charity, housing or public sector would be advantageous but is not essential.
