Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking a Payroll Executive to own payroll processing for stores and head office teams, with hands-on exposure to onboarding and employee record management in a fast-paced retail environment.

This role also covers day-to-day HR queries and HR administration, offering a route to develop broader HR experience while ensuring accuracy, compliance with HMRC rules and pension obligations.

Qualifications

  • Experience in payroll administration.
  • Pensions experience is required.
  • Solid understanding of payroll legislation and best practice.
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
  • Manage payroll changes for new starters, leavers, and amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and liaise with Finance for approvals.
  • Maintain employee records in the payroll system and ensure data accuracy.
  • Review reports submitted by the bureau.

About the Role
As a Payroll Executive, you'll take ownership of processing for stores and head office teams. You'll also get hands‑on exposure to a variety of HR duties - from onboarding and employee record management to supporting day‑to‑day HR queries. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to develop a broader career in HR within a fast‑paced retail environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
  • Manage payroll changes including new starters, leavers, and contract amendments.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, pensions, and statutory payments.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and liaise with Finance for payment approvals.
  • Maintain employee records in the Fourth Payroll and ensure data accuracy.
  • Reviewing reports submitted by the bureau.
What You'll Bring
  • Previous experience in payroll administration.
  • Pensions experience.
  • A good understanding of payroll legislation and best practice.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel.
  • Must have experience with the Fourth payroll system.
  • Experience working with a Multi‑site Model.
