Job summary

The Football Association is seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator to ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while delivering a seamless benefits experience. This fixed-term role supports the FA Council payrolls and requires collaboration with stakeholders, GDPR compliance, and DBS checks.

You will handle end-to-end payroll for multiple staff groups in a hybrid setup, using Workday, and provide proactive support on pensions, expenses, and benefits while upholding

Qualifications

  • Experience running end-to-end payrolls up to 500 employees.
  • Understanding of manual tax calculation.
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment pension.
  • Strong stakeholder management and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated payroll experience and reliability.
  • Proficient Excel skills including pivots and lookups.
  • Good written and oral communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-end processing of two casual payrolls using Workday.
  • Accurate input of employee data, pay elements, deductions and benefits.
  • Administer employee benefits schemes, including pensions.
  • First point of contact for payroll and benefits enquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC, pension legislation, GDPR and policies.
  • Assist with staff and credit card expenses.
  • Perform additional tasks to meet changing priorities.
  • Comply with health, safety and well-being policies.
  • Complete DBS checks as required for the role.

Job description

We're looking for a detail-oriented professional who is passionate about delivering an outstanding payroll and benefits experience for our employees.

As our Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you'll play a vital role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while delivering a seamless benefits experience. Acting as a trusted point of contact, you'll provide a high-quality service, support employee wellbeing, and ensure compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.

This role is advertised as a fixed term contract for up to a period of 12 months.

What will you be doing?
  • End-to-end processing of two Casual payrolls (50-500 employees) using Workday.
  • Accurate process payroll inputs, ensuring employee data, pay elements, deductions and benefits are maintained and updated in line with payroll deadlines.
  • Administer employee benefits schemes, including pension arrangements.
  • Act as the first point of contact for employee payroll and benefits enquiries for the FA Council/Council Payrolls, providing timely and professional support.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, pension legislation, GDPR and internal policies and procedures.
  • Assist with Staff and Credit Card Expenses.
  • Executes additional tasks as required to meet the FA's changing priorities.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures to ensure that the highest standards of health, safety, and well-being can be maintained.
  • As part of the FA's commitment to ensuring a safe environment for everyone in football, every employee will be required to complete a DBS check. The level of the check required will be based on the activity of the specific job role and in line with legislation and government guidance.
What are we looking for?

Essential for the role:

  • Experience of running end-to-end payrolls of up to 500 employees.
  • Manual tax calculation understanding.
  • Knowledge of Auto Enrolment pension.
  • Good stakeholder, people management, problem-solving and planning skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in payroll.
  • Strong Microsoft Office Skills, especially Excel (Pivots and VLOOKUPS).
  • Good time management and organisational skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
Beneficial to have:
  • Experience using Workday Payroll.
  • Employee benefits knowledge.
  • In-house payroll experience.
  • Understanding of payroll interfaces, data imports and data validation processes.
  • Experience processing expenses.

Currently, we are working within a hybrid working model whereby the expectation is to work from your contractual location for part of the week, and as and when required by the team.
