Job summary

TC Group, a Top 20 UK accountancy firm, is seeking a Payroll Assistant to support a varied client portfolio and ensure payrolls are processed accurately and on time. Hybrid working is available after probation, with 20–35 hours per week and a pro rata salary of £23,000–£28,000.

Join a growing team with supportive development, working across seven offices including Dundee, Perth, Brechin, Forfar, Montrose, Blairgowrie and Kinross.

Qualifications

• Experience handling payrolls across multiple frequencies (weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly).
• Experience in payroll bureau or accountancy practice preferred.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Proactive and solutions-focused with a collaborative approach.

Responsibilities

• Process payrolls accurately and on time for diverse clients.
• Collect, validate and exchange payroll data while maintaining confidentiality.
• Support pension administration and ensure compliance with HMRC and Auto Enrolment.
• Respond to payroll queries with timely guidance and service excellence.
• Collaborate with payroll team to meet deadlines and maintain standards.
• Take ownership of assigned payrolls and manage workload with accuracy.

Salary: £23,000 – £28,000 pro rata, depending on experience

Hours: Part-time or full-time considered, 20 - 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Working Pattern: Hybrid and flexible working available after probationary period

Holiday: 31 days annual leave (including bank holidays), increasing with service up to an additional 5 days – pro rata

The Opportunity

As a Payroll Assistant, you'll be an important part of our payroll team, supporting a varied portfolio of clients and ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, efficiently and on time. You'll build strong client relationships, provide day-to-day payroll support and play a key role in delivering a high-quality service. What You'll Be Doing

As our Payroll Assistant, you'll be responsible for:

• Processing payrolls accurately and on time across a variety of pay frequencies, including weekly, fortnightly, four-weekly and monthly payrolls.
• Collecting, validating and exchanging payroll data, ensuring employee information is maintained accurately and confidentially.
• Supporting pension administration and ensuring compliance with HMRC, Auto Enrolment and payroll legislation requirements.
• Providing excellent client service by responding to payroll queries and offering timely support and guidance.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues across the payroll team to ensure deadlines are met and service standards are maintained.
• Taking ownership of assigned payrolls, managing your workload effectively and maintaining a high level of accuracy and accountability.
