Title: Payroll Assistant, Scotiabank Human Resources, London - 12mth Contract

Position & Team Overview/Highlights:

To provide an efficient and timely payroll and financial accounting service to the department’s client base and assist with the HR benefits and general HR Services for the department. This role impacts and influences a broad range of HR activities in a dynamic and progressive international Bank. The role holder is required to undertake a variety of HR operations and generalist responsibilities. The role is based in the UK while supporting the European HR Services & Governance team, a total employee base of approximately 400 employees across UK & Ireland.

Responsibilities
  • Provide a timely, high standard and efficient payroll service of the European payrolls with main oversight of Ireland’s payroll and support of UK payroll as well as all associated submissions to the appropriate Revenues.
  • Ensure pension and benefit contributions are paid to the providers within the regulatory time frame and the appropriate charge out to the units for the employer costs. Act as the key contact for online member queries and liaise between Payroll Bureau and Plan Administrator.
  • Handle applicable payroll charge outs and ensure deferred salaries and associated benefit costs are charged out to the relevant units within the quarter.
  • Ensure timely monthly payment to the Revenue.
  • Prepare and dispatch various tax year end returns including P11d’s, Class 1a, Annual PAYE Settlement Agreement (PSA) and related reporting; maintain that the accounting procedures and standard instructions as set out by the Bank/Government are adhered to.
  • Collate, reconcile, and process through the payroll the various taxable expat costs for the year end.
  • Be involved in general HR Operations activities as well as some accountancy and finance elements.
What You’ll Bring
  • Experience of working in payroll, HR Operations/Services within the finance industry.
  • Strong experience of payroll processing in Ireland and UK; additional multi-jurisdictional experience in APAC would be favorable.
  • Must be detail-oriented with excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills. Take ownership of issues and work to resolve them appropriately.
  • Must work well in a team environment and make a positive contribution to overall team effectiveness and goals. Share knowledge, information, and best practices with a high level of follow-through with co-workers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong PC skills (Word, PowerPoint, etc.). Highly proficient in Excel and using it to produce regular Management Information data.
  • Experience in use and design of HR databases.
