Job description

Job Responsibilities and Objectives

The role involves processing payroll data, liaising with branches and colleagues, and maintaining the Customer Service reputation of the Payroll Department.

  1. Check electronic starter/leaver/change forms received from branches and manual forms from Head Office.
  2. Upload weekly/monthly hours from branches.
  3. Calculate and process SSP/SMP/SPP/SAP.
  4. Download and verify Tax Codes/Student loans from the Inland Revenue.
  5. Check and enter P46/P45 tax forms.
  6. Complete benefit forms and mortgage references.
  7. Manage monthly payroll for approximately 6 colleagues, including Isle of Man, Guernsey, and Eire Payrolls.
  8. Ensure data is processed to strict deadlines, maintaining accuracy for payroll upload.
  9. Review trial run data and communicate errors for correction.
  10. Stop necessary BACS payments and handle deductions such as AOE/CSA and voluntary deductions.
  11. Liaise with branches and Head Office colleagues regarding payroll matters.
  12. Address payroll queries from colleagues or third parties via telephone, email, and post.
  13. Generate reports in Excel as required by other departments.
  14. Open mail and manage filing.
  15. Perform any other related ad hoc tasks as required.
