Are you experienced in payroll and ready to take the next step in your career? We're looking for a talented Payroll Assistant to join our supportive HR team at an iconic and ever-expanding business! We're already internationally successful, with ambitious growth plans on the horizon. As a Payroll Assistant, you'll be at the heart of our operations, playing a key role in ensuring that all employees receive accurate and timely payments.

The Role

As part of our growing HR department, the Payroll team is responsible for over 9,000 Clarks’ people, in 23 different countries. Joining us, you’ll bring your payroll experience to a supportive, dedicated and very friendly HR team in an iconic, internationally successful, and ever-expanding business with ambitious growth plans. You’ll be involved in SAP-related payroll processes to ensure that all of our people get paid accurately and on time. It’s a big task with lots of responsibility but don’t worry, you won’t be on your own. You’ll be part of a small, friendly team and work closely with them to ensure that processes are effective, up-to-date, and internationally compliant. We want our payroll service to be world-class, just like our shoes – that’s where you come in.

About you

You’ll have proven experience working within a payroll environment, specifically with an understanding of statutory payment and deduction processing and the handling of sensitive data. Strong IT skills including SAP Payroll means you’re equipped to handle our systems. You’ll have a good understanding of payroll principles relating to the calculation of gross and net pay. If you’ve worked with RTI, Pension Auto-enrollment, and salary sacrifice, that’d be even better. Ideally, CIPP qualified or part-qualified, you’ll also be well-organised, detail-conscious, and comfortable working at pace to strict deadlines. You understand the importance of payroll to a global organisation, and you’ll use your skills and expertise to maintain our reputation for international excellence.

About Clarks

Clarks, based in Somerset, England, has been at the forefront of innovative shoemaking since its foundation in 1825, when brothers James and Cyrus Clark made a slipper from sheepskin off-cuts. Sparking revolutions and defining generations, Clarks’ archive of over 22,000 pairs includes the inimitable Desert Boot and Wallabee – and a ground-breaking combination of invention and craftsmanship remains at the heart of what the brand does now. Cutting-edge collaborations with cultural icons and KOLs, taking strides in social change, reimagining legendary silhouettes, and making shoes that move with the world ahead – Clarks is never standing still.
