Hays is delighted to present a new role on behalf of our Birmingham-based private-sector client. Our client requires a Payroll Assistant to join the finance function and assist with the responsibilities outlined below.

Your new role

This role will involve managing the monthly payroll for employees across multiple departments owned by our client. The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the validity of payroll data, processing overtime and deductions when appropriate
  • Calculating gross-to-net figures and creating the relevant payment files for bank transfer
  • HMRC submissions
  • Staying informed of any regulation or compliance changes and assisting with organizational adaptation to these changes
  • Handling new starters, leavers, and tax code changes

What you'll need to succeed

  • Proven experience in a payroll setting
  • Enthusiastic and hardworking personality, capable of working with initiative
  • Ability to be a team player as well as lead when necessary
  • Ability to work 5 days in the office
