About the Role

DP World are looking for a UK Payroll Administrator Apprentice to be based out of London Gateway in Stanford Le Hope, Essex. The role would suit an individual who is looking to start their career in payroll with a requirement to gain an apprenticeship qualification as part of the position. Reporting to the Payroll Manager and UK Payroll Officer, the Payroll Administrator Apprentice will be responsible for the calculation and input of data to process the monthly payroll and the accurate entry of fixed and variable data onto the payroll.

How will you contribute:

  • Administration of bonuses for payment and salary reviews throughout the year. Including reconciliation, reports, and sign offs. and the provision of employee's self-service letter notification for bonuses and salary reviews.
  • Calculation of Overtime, shift payments, Call out, Holiday overtime etc.
  • Absence calculation and inputto ensure London Gateway’s absence policy is administered correctly and subsequent production of sick pay letters.
  • Production and reconciliation of monthly reports for overtime, basic hours, headcount, flexible benefits, payroll total costs for required departments. Production of other required reports and the calculation of the Gender Pay Gap report.
  • Provision of salaries, bonus, overtime, and headcount statistics for full/part-time employees to the Office of National Statistics as a when required throughout the year.
  • Compilation of annual salary costs by job category and headcount for the Employer’s Liability Renewal insurance return.
  • Assist the UK Payroll Officers and Administrator with duties including; flexible benefits administration on ONE benefits platform and the application to payroll, end of year reconciliation/HMRC reporting together with opening the new tax year and application of thresholds/allowances, administration of Payrolling benefits of Kind and related HMRC reporting and compliance, administration of the pension scheme for new employees and contribution changes and reconciliation of employee headcount between payroll and HR.
  • Keep up to date with statutory requirements and changes made by the government.
  • Answer all payroll enquiries and requests in a timely manner.
  • In the absence of both the UK Payroll Manager and the UK Payroll Officers and Administrator ensure the daily payroll responsibilities are carried out

What you will bring

  • Minimum grade GCSE C+ in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, flexible attitude, organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to take ownership of work as well as a displaying a willing and 'hands on' approach.
  • Trustworthy and able to treat business and personal information with respect and confidence.
  • Effective and strong communication skills, both orally and in writing.
  • Superior time management skills / ability to work to demanding deadlines.
  • Highly motivated and committed.
  • Willing to learn.
  • Good knowledge of MS Office to competently use computer software including EXCEL to create documents, databases, spreadsheets and presentations.
  • Good numerical skills.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK.
