About the Payroll function and the Role

We have an exciting vacancy for a talented and experienced payroll individual to join our payroll department located within the HR Shared Service function. You will be part of a collaborative team that is proactive and driven with a “can do” attitude. The team operates with a personal and friendly approach to ensure the employee lifecycle function associated with payroll is a positive experience.

The successful candidate will be adaptable to change and have the skills and abilities to “hit the ground running”. Previous experience of working in a fast-paced, multi-employee, large-volume payroll department and enjoying collaborative work then this role is for you.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the delivery of full end-to-end payroll processing under the guidance of the Payroll Manager.
  • Process various pay frequency payrolls in accordance with overtime and company absence policies for over 7000 UK employees.
  • Handle starters and leavers with ADP IHCM payroll system.
  • Input all variable data including bonuses, commissions, overtime within payroll and HR deadlines.
  • Audit all changes to the payroll/HR system.
  • Monitor and administer employee benefits including Childcare Vouchers, Cycle to work, and Tech schemes, ensuring correct deductions and timely payments.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of statutory deductions including parental leave, SSP, and AEOs.
  • Ensure all PAYE liabilities are met according to HMRC guidelines.
  • Recover overpayments for current and former staff.
  • Maintain shared mailboxes and respond promptly.
  • Assist in producing regular and ad-hoc reports to validate payroll data.
  • Liaise with the wider business to foster professional relationships.
  • Participate in payroll projects to develop wider payroll and business policy knowledge.
  • Stay updated with legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance.
Requirements:
  • At least 3 years of end-to-end payroll experience.
  • Experience with manual calculations.
  • Strong computer skills, especially Excel (V-Lookups, pivot tables).
  • Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changes within the business.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement in a Shared Service environment.

Salary: £30,000 - £33,000
