Role Purpose

To work as part of the payroll team to provide a comprehensive Payroll service for the business.

The role will deliver Payroll and Benefits transactional activities that are accurate, of high quality with a focus on first class customer service and continuous improvement.

Core areas of responsibility
  1. Provide a high quality end-to-end payroll service to the business in an accurate and timely manner
  2. Processing and review of all weekly and monthly Payroll transactional activities, including occupational and statutory payments and deductions
  3. Provide specialist advice and guidance to the business and our employees on all aspects of Payroll and PAYE
  4. Responsible for ensuring all Payroll transactions are compliant and delivered in accordance with relevant legislation and internal policies
  5. Supporting the business with queries relating to data processed through the time and attendance system
  6. Support with the annual pay review and bonus process
  7. Administration of pension schemes including Auto Enrolment compliance requirements, regular reporting of membership and contribution data to the providers
  8. Administration and reporting of employee benefits such as PMI, Life Assurance and SAYE
  9. Supporting the annual production of P11d’s for employee benefits in kind
  10. Monitor and update Payroll process documentation to ensure it is up-to-date, fit for purpose and in accordance with business need
  11. Continuously contribute and influence new initiatives and ways of working to improve processes and systems to enhance Payroll service delivery
Capabilities required
  • Relevant Payroll qualification is essential, ideally CIPP qualified or relevant experience
  • Subject-matter expert in relation to current UK payroll and pension legislation with a passion for payroll controls and assurance
  • Evidence of continuous professional development relating to payroll and benefits
  • Payroll systems and operational experience at a professional level, ideally Workday
  • Good organisational awareness and an effective approach to problem-solving
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to build constructive and collaborative working relationships
  • Excellent level of IT skills and analytical ability - including Excel
  • Prepared to challenge the status quo in a constructive and respectful manner, actively suggesting and contributing to process and system improvements
  • Effective and logical approach to all payroll related issues
  • Team player with the ability to work under pressure with a focus on attention to detail
