What you'll do:

  • Support the Payroll Manager in delivering high-quality payroll services for staff and plant employees across multiple sites.
  • Ensure all payrolls are processed accurately and on time, with full approval from relevant stakeholders before finalisation.
  • Upload data feeds from HR systems such as Success Factors and TA systems like Kronos into ADP Payroll, maintaining data integrity throughout the process.
  • Manually enter variable data changes including pensions and sickness absence in accordance with business policies to ensure records are always up to date.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for three monthly payrolls across two PAYE references, providing additional support for a fourth monthly payroll when required.
  • Compile detailed reports for Finance teams in line with SOX compliance requirements, ensuring all documentation is accurate and submitted promptly.
  • Participate in the monthly payroll approval process alongside HR and Finance teams to guarantee all payments are correct and compliant.
  • Stay current with payroll legislation to ensure ongoing compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
  • Calculate manual payroll adjustments as needed, demonstrating strong numerical skills and attention to detail.
  • Liaise effectively with HR colleagues to resolve any payroll queries quickly and efficiently.

What you bring:

  • Demonstrated experience processing UK payrolls accurately and efficiently within strict deadlines across multiple sites or business units.
  • Proficiency in using HR information systems such as Success Factors or Kronos for data uploads into payroll platforms like ADP Payroll.
  • Strong manual data entry skills for handling variable changes including pensions and sickness absence according to company policies.
  • Comprehensive understanding of SOX compliance requirements and experience supporting both internal and external audit requests related to payroll.
  • Ability to compile detailed financial reports for finance teams while maintaining high standards of accuracy under pressure.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation with proven ability to calculate manual adjustments when necessary.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective collaboration with HR colleagues on complex queries or issues.
  • Experience reconciling pension contributions for multiple payrolls and supporting consolidated uploads to providers such as Aviva.
  • Familiarity with month-end reporting processes including journal extraction, reconciliation, approval, upload to BPCS, raising manual journals as required, third party payment reconciliations including HMRC payments, balance sheet reconciliations.
