JGA Recruitment Group Ltd in Doncaster is seeking a detail-oriented Part Time Payroll Administrator to join our established Payroll and HR team. The role focuses on Time & Attendance and payroll processes to ensure accurate, timely pay.

This office-based position requires at least 2 years' payroll experience, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with UK payroll legislation. The role is 4 days per week with a take-home salary of £24,000.

Qualifications

  • At least 2 years' experience in payroll processing.
  • Understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience with Time & Attendance systems.
  • Strong numerical ability with high attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Excel including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and data analysis.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and collaborative problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate employee records in the payroll system with GDPR compliance.
  • Process weekly working hours and payroll information within deadlines.
  • Input, check and validate payroll data including overtime, deductions and absences.
  • Support the full payroll process and assist colleagues in Payroll team.
  • Assist with statutory reporting to HMRC (FPS and EPS).
  • Support pension administration and ensure correct contributions.
  • Respond to payroll queries and resolve issues promptly.
  • Produce payroll reports and management information as required.
  • Contribute to payroll, HR and process-improvement projects.
  • Provide admin support to HR when needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Part Time Payroll Administrator (4 days per week 32 hours) | Permanent

Our client is a large, established UK organisation operating across multiple sectors, with a diverse workforce and a strong national presence.

The business provides a range of products and services to customers across the UK and has a significant workforce operating across multiple sites. As part of its continued growth and focus on operational excellence, the organisation is looking to strengthen its central Payroll and HR function.

The Role

We are seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Administrator to join an established Payroll and HR team.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting the organisation's Time & Attendance and Payroll processes, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of confidentiality, compliance and data accuracy.

This would suit an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working with numbers, has strong Excel skills and is comfortable working to tight deadlines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate employee records within the payroll system, ensuring information is handled securely and in accordance with GDPR.
  • Process weekly working hours and payroll information accurately and within agreed deadlines.
  • Input, check and validate payroll information including overtime, deductions, absence, adjustments and other payroll amendments.
  • Support the full payroll process and provide assistance to colleagues within the Payroll team as required.
  • Assist with statutory payroll reporting and submissions to HMRC, including FPS and EPS.
  • Support pension administration and ensure employee and employer contributions are processed correctly.
  • Act as a first point of contact for payroll-related queries, investigating and resolving issues promptly.
  • Produce payroll reports and management information as required.
  • Assist with payroll, HR and process-improvement projects.
  • Provide wider administrative support to the HR function when required.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with sensitive employee and payroll information.
About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years' experience working in payroll processing.
  • A sound understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements.
  • Experience working with payroll and Time & Attendance systems.
  • Excellent numerical ability and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills; experience with VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and data analysis would be advantageous.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively to strict deadlines.
  • A proactive, practical and collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • A strong customer-service mindset and the confidence to deal with payroll queries professionally.
Qualifications
  • GCSE or equivalent in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above.
  • A recognised payroll qualification, such as a CIPP qualification, would be advantageous.
  • Candidates who do not currently hold a professional payroll qualification but are willing to work towards one will also be considered.

This is an office-based position working as part of an established Payroll and HR team.

The role is offered on a part-time basis, 4 days per week (32 hours). Some flexibility around working hours may be required during particularly busy periods, including weekly payroll processing and year-end activity.
