We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll/Accountant to join our finance team. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate payroll processing and maintaining financial integrity within the company.

Job Summary

The Payroll/Accountant will be responsible for managing all aspects of the payroll process and performing various accounting duties to ensure the company’s financial operations are accurate and compliant. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a deep understanding of payroll systems and accounting principles. The successful candidate will work closely with the HR and finance departments to ensure smooth and efficient payroll and accounting operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Management:
    • Process monthly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with UK payroll laws and regulations.
    • Maintain and update payroll records, including employee details, earnings, deductions, and benefits.
    • Calculate and process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, and SPP.
    • Prepare and submit payroll reports to HMRC and other relevant bodies.
    • Handle payroll queries and resolve any discrepancies promptly.
  • Accounting Duties:
    • Manage day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable and receivable.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and reports.
    • Perform bank reconciliations and monitor cash flow.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Support the finance team in budgeting and forecasting activities.
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Financial Analysis:
    • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data.
  • System Management:
    • Use accounting software and payroll systems efficiently to manage financial operations.
    • Ensure all financial data is accurately recorded and securely stored.
    • Stay updated with changes in payroll and accounting regulations and implement necessary changes to systems and processes.
Qualifications
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
    • Professional qualifications such as AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and accounting.
    • Proven experience with payroll software and accounting systems.
  • Skills:
    • Strong understanding of UK payroll laws and regulations.
    • Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
