Job summary

Durham County Council is seeking a Permanent Payments and Expenditure Officer to join our Transactional and Customer Services team on a full-time basis (37 hours). You will be trained from day one, supported by managers and colleagues, to handle payments to social care providers accurately and efficiently.

You will manage accounts payable tasks, reclaim overpayments, and assist in transactional purchasing in a customer-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, or Level 2/3 with relevant experience in accounts payable or transactional purchasing.
  • Strong organisational, numerical and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Handle payments to the Council’s Social Care providers and ensure accurate processing of payments.
  • Reclaim overpaid amounts and provide responsive support to internal and external customers.
  • Support in accounts payable processes and transactional purchasing in a financial services environment.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen within Transactional and Customer Services for a Permanent Payments and Expenditure Officer working full time, 37 hours.

WHAT IS INVOLVED?

From day one you will receive full training, support, and mentoring, not only from your managers but also from your colleagues. The training will complement and develop the skills you already have. We are a supportive and enthusiastic team responsible for payments to the Council’s Social Care providers. You will provide responsive and efficient support to care providers and assist in processing accurate payments and reclaiming overpaid amounts.

If you have experience of dealing with financial processes or accounts payable and dealing with internal and external customers in a caring and supportive manner and want to make a real difference to our residents, then we want to hear from you.

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You should have NVQ Level 3 or equivalent or Level 2/3 and relevant experience of working in an accounts payable or transactional purchasing environment working in a financial services/support environment.

You should also have good organisational, numerical and time management skills.
