The NHS is seeking a Patient Support Advisor for a maternity cover position at Abbey House Medical Practice. This role involves providing reception and triage services, administrative support, and maintaining patient confidentiality within a busy team environment. A successful candidate will exhibit strong communication skills and basic computer knowledge, with opportunities for becoming permanent.
We are looking to recruit a Patient Support Advisor to join our Patient Support Team at Abbey House Medical Practice.
The focus of this role is to provide a complete reception and telephone triage service to our patients whilst maintaining patient confidentiality and promoting the professional image of Abbey House Medical Practice. You will also provide administrative support for all aspects of general medical business including scanning, prescription processing, filing of medical records, and patient registrations.

This is a maternity cover position until 30th June 2026, with a view to becoming a permanent position for the right candidate. The hours are 25 per week, Monday to Friday, with a 5-hour shift to be worked per day between 13:00 and 20:00.

We seek an enthusiastic, approachable, compassionate, and organized individual who can work as part of a team. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to multitask are essential. The successful candidate must demonstrate good communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone and in writing, and be able to actively listen to patients and colleagues.
A basic knowledge of computers is essential. Experience with Microsoft Windows or SystmOne is an advantage, but full training will be provided.
Previous experience working in a reception setting or with appointment systems is desirable.
