Patient Safety Assistant - Emergency Department

Work Shift: Evening (United States of America)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring patients under the supervision of nurses
  • Participating in patient rounding
  • Ensuring environmental safety
  • Responding to call lights and patient care issues
  • Restocking supplies and equipment
  • Transporting patients within the department and hospital
  • Cleaning patient equipment
  • Completing documentation and safety competency
  • Communicating patient behavior changes
  • Engaging in quality improvement activities
  • Respecting cultural beliefs and utilizing interpreter services when needed
  • Adhering to safety laws, regulations, and policies

Education/Experience Required: High School diploma/GED or enrolled in a related program

Registration/Certification: Current Basic Life Support certification within 3 months of hire; hospital-approved de-escalation training during orientation

Physical/Environmental Requirements: Frequent physical activity including bending, lifting (up to 100 lbs), standing, walking, and problem-solving; constant use of senses; vaccination against influenza and COVID-19 is required.
