Job summary

NHS Ayrshire & Arran is seeking a Catering Assistant to join the University Hospital Ayr team on a permanent basis. The role is 12.25 hours per week with 7 days on 7 days off, 11:30–15:00 and no break.

The post involves supporting food preparation, meal service, distribution, wash-up duties and cleaning in a busy production kitchen, with emphasis on patient meals. Training and Food Hygiene will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills, a flexible approach, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• A current Food Hygiene Certificate is desirable; training will be provided if not held within three months of employment.
• All successful candidates will attend NHS Ayrshire & Arran Corporate Induction and mandatory training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Support delivery of high-quality catering services by assisting with food preparation, meal service, distribution, wash-up duties and cleaning.
• Based in a busy production kitchen with focus on patient meal service and timely delivery of meals.
• Assist plating and distribution of patient meals and reset equipment for next service.
