Job Details

• We are hiring immediately for a full-time PATIENT DINING ASSOCIATE DIETARY AIDE position.
• Location: JMH - 16000 Johnston Memorial Drive, Abingdon, VA 24211 (Online applications accepted only)
• Schedule: Full-time, days and hours may vary, 12-hour shifts, including every other weekend. More details upon interview.
• Requirement: Previous food service experience required.
• Pay Rate: $15.25 per hour.

Job Summary

Patient Dining Associates work on assigned units, helping patients with menu selections, assembling, delivering, and retrieving meal trays. They are part of the caregiving team, responsible for patient safety and satisfaction by ensuring meals are accurate, timely, and at the correct temperature.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist patients with menu selections and coordinate with nursing to ensure nutritional requirements are met.
• Work with culinary and caregiving teams to accommodate food allergies, cultural, ethnic, religious preferences, or additional inquiries.
• Manage tray tickets, assemble meals accurately, and retrieve trays from patient rooms at scheduled times.
• Comply with regulatory standards (federal, state, JCAHO) and adhere to confidentiality and HIPAA policies.
• Follow HACCP guidelines for food handling, cleaning, and tray line procedures.
• Assist dietitians with monitoring patients on special diets or calorie counts.
• Report problems or concerns promptly.
• Complete required reports as per policies.
• Follow health and sanitation regulations and department procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Basic computer and math skills.
• Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds and maneuver food delivery carts.
