The Post
NHS Scotland Counter Fraud Services (CFS) has the remit to protect NHS Scotland from financial crime. In achieving this, CFS provides a comprehensive, integrated and professional service to NHS Scotland by proactively identifying and undertaking investigations of suspected financial crime. We are seeking a suitably experienced individual to join our Patient Claims Team.
The Patient Claims Team delivers a national programme of patient exemption checking in accordance with the Penalty Charge (Scotland) 1999 Regulations. The Team is the first line of deterrence for patients who mistakenly or fraudulently claim exemption from NHS dental and ophthalmic charges.
You will be a member of a small team, whose principal activities include confirming claims with the appropriate checking agency, contacting patients where entitlement to exemption cannot be confirmed and taking the necessary follow up action. The team deal with a significant amount of patient calls, many of which can be challenging. The post holder will be responsible for setting up and managing payment plans, dealing with defaulters and case reviews.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who has lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NSS.
