Job description
Overview

We have several vacancies for Patient Catering Hosts to join our patient catering team. There are various shifts available across Monday to Sunday. Dependent on applicants preferences we can cater for a variety of combinations of the shifts above. To provide high standards of both food and customer services to patients in accordance to best care practices.

Responsibilities
  • Provide breakfast, lunch and supper meal time services including beverages while ensuring the ward and kitchen environments are kept to an acceptable level of cleanliness.
  • Help to enhance patient well-being and their experience in the hospital by delivering a high level of customer service to all patients, visitors and staff.
  • Ensure a high quality food and beverage service is provided (provision of meals and hot or cold beverages).
  • Communicate with patients and visitors over their food choices and issues with the service in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Maintain a pleasant customer‑focused manner at all times.
  • Carry out cleaning duties and maintain hygiene levels to ensure Food Hygiene Legislation, Environmental Health Officer requirements and HACCP procedures are conformed to and maintained.
  • Ensure all Codes of Practice for Food Safety, Health & Safety, Infection prevention, COSHH and HACCP are adhered to.
  • Monitor levels of food waste and report back to the Patient Catering Supervisors/Co-ordinators.
  • Report maintenance defects and problems immediately to the Patient Catering Supervisors/Team Co-ordinators.
  • Maintain security of all Trust property when on duty, in accordance with Departmental Policy.
Requirements
  • Provide efficient food and beverage service to patients on wards ensuring that food and beverages meet patients' medical, dietary and cultural needs.
  • Help to prepare service areas with necessary equipment, such as crockery and condiments.
  • Maintain a high standard of hygiene and food handling, while ensuring all food served to patients is easily accessible.
  • Full uniform, on‑the‑job training and full Trust induction will be given; experience is desirable but not essential.
  • Applicants must be fully vaccinated against Covid‑19 before their start date.
  • Ensure correct storage, labelling and rotation of chilled produce is followed and relevant temperature monitoring is undertaken. Maintain food quality and service at all times and address any defects immediately and proactively.
