Job description

DaVita is seeking a Patient Care Technician who is looking to give life in an outpatient dialysis center. You can make an exceptional difference in the lives of our patients and their families dealing with end-stage renal failure or chronic kidney disease. Do you desire to deliver care in an empathetic, compassionate way - the way you'd want your own care to be?

Joining DaVita as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) is an exciting opportunity to jump start your career in the healthcare industry! With paid, extensive training, you will gain the skills needed to care for our patients and build a network of other healthcare professionals across your region. After training, you will join a holistic team of care professionals – including nurses, dietitians, social workers, and other PCTs – to care for our patients. It's not just a job, it's a career based on passion and purpose.

DaVita – which is Italian for "giving life" – is committed to providing quality service to patients, partners, and teammates. Our mission is to be the Provider, Partner, and Employer of Choice.

Our PCTs find DaVita professionally fulfilling. We offer clear paths to higher levels of responsibility and compensation through our Clinical Ladders program. Through DaVita's Bridge to your Dreams program, teammates who have been in their role for six consecutive months and are in good standing are eligible to receive tuition assistance to pursue their goal of becoming a DaVita RN and obtaining their Associate Degree in Nursing. We also provide training to become a Facility Administrator and to progress to Regional Operations Director. Your success is driven by your performance and desire.

Some details about this position:

  1. No dialysis experience required.
  2. Training may occur in a facility or training clinic other than your assigned home clinic.
  3. Potential to float to various clinics during and after training.
  4. Must have a flexible schedule and be able to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

What you can expect:

  1. Direct patient care, spending most of your day in one-on-one care to provide safe, comfortable, and hygienic dialysis treatment.
  2. Care for multiple patients.
  3. Monitor patients before, during, and after dialysis, including measuring and recording stats, observing patients, and setting up hemodialysis machines. Exposure to blood and needles is involved.
  4. Build long-term relationships with patients suffering from end-stage renal disease, receiving treatment about three times a week. Educate patients on dialysis-related topics.
  5. Work within a cross-functional team including technicians, nurses, dietitians, social workers, and leadership, under RN supervision.

What we'll provide:

  1. Comprehensive benefits: Medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid time off, PTO cash out.
  2. Support for you and your family: family resources, EAP counseling, Headspace access, backup child and elder care, maternity/paternity leave, pet insurance, and more.
  3. Paid training.

Requirements:

  1. Desire to enter healthcare to care for others.
  2. High school diploma or equivalent.
  3. Comfort working around blood and needles.
  4. Ability to work long hours (some shifts over 12 hours) on your feet — wear comfortable shoes!
  5. Willingness to train and work across multiple clinics within the territory.
  6. Healthcare certifications like BONENT, CHT, CNA, CMA, or Phlebotomy are a plus.

DaVita is a clinical leader with high standards and a commitment to clinical excellence. We encourage our teammates to improve patient health through clinical goals and quality initiatives.
