Job summary

Bayhealth in the United States is seeking a Part Time Night shift Registered Nurse at the Kent Campus Hospital. The role provides professional nursing care on an assigned unit with a focus on quality and safety.

Salary range is $37.98–$58.87 per hour. The position requires a Diploma or ADN, RN license, BLS, and possibly ACLS/PALS as directed, with preferred acute care experience.

Qualifications

• Diploma or associate degree in nursing.
• RN licensure and active nursing practice.
• BLS required; ACLS/PALS may be required per manager.
• Acute care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to patients in the acute care setting.
• Develop a patient-centered plan of care based on individual needs.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient medical records.
• Counsel and educate patients and care partners on treatment plans.
• Administer medications following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information and assist with treatment decisions.
• Collaborate with physicians on the best treatment decisions.
• Document patient care timely and accurately.
• Delegate tasks to unlicensed assistive personnel and LPN staff.

General Summary

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care to patients within a assigned unit with a commitment to quality and safety. Professional nursing practices, requiring specialized knowledge judgment and skill are performed using the process in accordance with hospital policy, procedures and nursing philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, professional nursing care to specified population of patients in the acute care setting.
• Develops a patient centered plan of care based on individualized needs.
• Maintains confidentiality of the patient medical record.
• Counsel and educate patients and their care partner on treatment plans.
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration.
• Provide wound care and dressing changes, as applicable.
• Read and interpret patient information, making treatment decisions, when appropriate.
• Consult with physicians to decide on best treatment decisions when appropriate
• Performs nursing interventions to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
• Observe and record patient behavior and response to nursing interventions.
• Demonstrates quality, safe and effective patient care.
• Provides delegation to unlicensed assistive staff and Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) staff
• Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes practicing nursing with core values of compassion, accountability, respect, teamwork and integrity.
• Demonstrates understanding and executes quality and performance improvement plans. (only for RN evaluation)
• Participates in decision making and takes actions based on ethical principles. (only for RN evaluation)
• Provides timely and accurate documentation of patient care.
• All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.

Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience

• Education: Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing
• Credential(s): Registered Nurse RN Basic Life Support BLS
• ACLS / PALS may be required per manager’s direction and timeframe *Commit to seeking specialty certification within time frame as indicated during interview
• Experience: Acute care RN experience strongly preferred
